As a charity, the British Flute Society is reliant on donations. Currently, donations in the form of member subscriptions support the essential running costs of the organisation, including the production of our Journal Pan. Other charitable activities have to be self-financing, so raising funds to enable us to pursue more activities and support more people is crucial for the future of the BFS.

Introducing Atarah’s Fund
It is with deep sadness that we write that Atarah Ben-Tovim MBE, our past Chair, has died. A huge supporter of the BFS since its inception, Atarah wanted to set up a fund to support a participant in the annual performance competition (a brainchild of hers). The chosen player would not be a winner of a category, but someone who was deserving of support because of the innate talent that was shown in the competition - and the possible career that could be nurtured if supported. The BFS welcome donations to Atarah’s fund.
