Many of you might already be familiar with Zoya after she first appeared at the 2008 BFS flute convention in Manchester, having caught Wibb’s eye for talent. On that occasion, she wowed the audience with a run through the Paganini Caprices, dashed off with an almost disdainful nonchalance. Since then, she has graduated from the Royal Academy having studied flute with Wibb and piano with Colin Stone, is an Altus Flutes artist and performs as a flute soloist with the Black Square Quartet and Classics-Art Ensemble. She teaches at the Gnessin Special Music School in Moscow, one of the city’s major music colleges.
But we don’t often get to hear her perform in the UK and, on the 6th October, she will be appearing in Appleby for a solo performance on not only the flute, but also the piano and harp. This is a concert that will be worth travelling for.
This concert is part of the North Westmorland Arts concert series. For further details, the NWA website is appleby-concerts.org.uk.
