About Leah Wing:
Having achieved a First in her undergraduate BMus degree at the Royal Northern College of Music, Leah has continued her musical studies in Manchester and is now in the final year of her Master’s in music performance at the RNCM. During her recent Master’s studies, she has had the opportunity to focus on developing her orchestral playing - for example, winning a place in the furthest stage of the Professional Experience Scheme with Opera North.
On piccolo Leah has also performed in concert with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, an extra work position achieved through competitive audition. Leah continues to develop her orchestral playing, with a particular fondness for her specialism in piccolo playing. With the expert tuition of her teachers Jennifer Hutchinson (Principal Piccolo, BBC Philharmonic Orchestra) and Cormac Henry (Principal Flute, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra), she looks forward to building her orchestral career and continuing her lifelong love of music.
Leah is accompanied by Lydia Newlands on piano for this performance. There will also be an opening set from three of World Heart Beat’s flute students.
