BFS Seeks Legal Adviser
The British Flute Society are inviting applications for the position of Legal Adviser. This role would suit a candidate with a love of music who is seeking to undertake some rewarding charity work within the BFS family. The Legal Adviser will tender legal and procedural advice, and as necessary, to the Council members and the Secretary on the governance of the Society. The British Flute Society’s Legal Adviser is a Council member and trustee, therefore is an unpaid position.
The successful candidate would have recent experience in legal practice. Experience and knowledge of charity law is desirable although not essential. The Legal Adviser will be expected to keep up to date with latest Charity Commission developments and ensure that Council members comply with their constitutional and legal responsibilities.
Discrete tasks include:
1. the completion and timely submission of the Charity's Annual Return to the Charity Commission.
2. the drafting and revision of contracts for services.
3. the provision of legal advice in relation to event management.
4. assisting the Secretary with the planning and management of the Annual General Meeting.
