BFS Christmas Extravaganza 2020

Join us on Saturday 12th as we ring in the season with an afternoon of ensemble playing, sessions for teachers, performers and ensembles, and of course a festive knees-up - all via Zoom!

Sessions 1 and 2: £5 BFS members, £10 non-members; Session 3 (members’ Christmas party): free

Session 1 (3-4pm)

Giant Christmas Flute Ensemble Play-Along
Dust off your instruments and join us for some festive flute ensemble treats led by Mel Orriss.

Session 2

4-5pm - a choice of sessions:

Teachers’ Session - Quick Fixes & Repairs for Flute Teachers
With online lessons continuing and limited access to repairers, Lynne Williams will lead a workshop for teachers sharing some quick fixes and repairs to help us maintain both our own and our students’ instruments.

Performers’ & Ensembles’ Session - Getting the Most from Online Rehearsals & Ensembles
An opportunity to continue playing some flute ensemble music with Mel Orriss and a chance to explore her play-along videos. There will also be an opportunity to share ideas, tips and advice.

5-6pm - a choice of sessions:

Teachers’ Session - Flute Teaching: Beyond 2020
An open forum and discussion for teachers as we reflect on 2020 and look forward to 2021.

Performers’ & Ensembles’ Session - Making Music: Beyond 2020
Siobhan Grealy (Trinity Laban, former London Symphony Orchestra), with Lisa Nelsen, will lead an open forum and discussion for performers and ensembles as we reflect on 2020 and look forward to 2021.

Session 3 (6-7pm)

BFS Christmas Party (Members Only)
Bring your own mulled wine, mince pies etc. and join us for some festive chat with BFS friends old and new. Festive musical items welcome!
