About Eliza Marshall
Over two decades the award-winning flautist and composer Eliza Marshall has worked with internationally acclaimed artists, orchestras and film composers, along with fronting her own projects and band.
Aged nine Eliza received a very special and life-changing gift: a cassette by the esteemed flautist James Galway with famed Irish trad band The Chieftains. It was its pure, soaring sound that made Eliza decide to hang up her violin and start learning the flute. After joining the junior conservatoire in Birmingham, Eliza continued her classical studies at the Royal Academy of Music in London. Courage, curiosity and compassion seem to sum up Eliza’s whole approach to life, not just her musical career. “I’m a bit intrepid,” she says. “I love the world and I love connecting people, and I love the fact that music can do that.”
In 2013 Eliza co-founded the Anglo-Irish folk four-piece Ranagri with Dónal Rogers and in 2020 she launched Freedom to Roam: a multi-media project in collaboration with Born Free Foundation. Its themes of climate change, migration and connection to the land felt hugely pertinent and timely.
Over the years Eliza has worked with a dizzying number of top-class artists and orchestras including Peter Gabriel, Amjad Ali Khan, The Who and the Britten Sinfonia and on soundtracks such as The Lord of the Rings and David Attenborough’s A Life on Our Planet.
Now Eliza is pursuing an exciting new solo venture, with the release in May 2025 of an EP New Birth (on Real World X). Her debut full-length solo album called Eternal Birth was released early 2026 on One World Records. A cinematic celebration of the cycle of life and the fragility of fertility, it’s bursting with kaleidoscopic musical influences, spoken word and soundscapes that evoke Eliza’s love of wilderness.
“Always remember it’s about moving people,” Peter Gabriel told her some years ago. It’s something she’s consistently adhered to, bringing an abundance of emotion and colour to all her music.

About Janna Hüneke
Janna Hüneke was born in Germany and moved to England at the age of 6 with her family. She attended The City University where she gained her Bachelor of Science in Music whilst studying the flute with Averil Williams at the Guildhall School.
In addition to school flute-teaching, Janna co-founded eflute academy, Stapleford Flutes and Flute School London, all of which welcome and support adult learners of all levels. Much of her work has centred on supporting adult learners, alongside coaching advanced students. The spirit of nurturing and welcoming players, however unconfident, is very important to Janna and she encourages it in all her teaching and in collaboration with colleagues. Recently Janna published a handbook for adult flute learners, called The Flute Unwrapped – available from ‘Just Flutes’ and ‘All Flutes Plus’.
Janna works as a freelance orchestral player, as a teacher and also regularly as a soloist with various amateur orchestras. Recitals and chamber concerts make up the rest of her playing work, notably with the chamber group Harmoniemusik of which she is a founder member. Janna particularly enjoys their annual Music Festival in North Cornwall in late August. Janna features on Harmoniemusik’s CDs which have regular airings on BBC Radio 3.
